Hurricane Ida passed through New Jersey from September 1st thru September 3rd, 2021, bringing lashing winds and torrential rains. On September 5th, 2021, President Biden issued a major disaster declaration.
People in the following counties are eligible to receive federal disaster assistance:

*Essex, Hudson, Mercer, Morris, and Union counties were added on September 10th, 2021.
**Warren county was added on September 19th, 2021.
A free legal helpline for Hurricane Ida survivors in the state declared disaster areas located in Bergen, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Union and Warren County is now available for people facing legal issues due to the recent disaster. Residents who cannot afford to pay an attorney can contact the Legal Services of New Jersey (LSNJ) statewide Hotline to request free legal assistance through its website, www.lsnjlawhotline.org. The Hotline can also be reached at 1-888-LSNJ-LAW (1-888-576-5529).

Application for Disaster Unemployment Assistance
Claims for DUA must be filed by October 20, 2021.
Application for SNAP Replacement
Friday, September 30, 2021 Warren County residents may be added at a later date.

Phone: Contact FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY users can call 1-800-462-7585.
Online: Fill out the application at DisasterAssistance.gov
In-Person: You can also fill out the application at a FEMA Disaster Resource Center (DRC).
Mobile Registration Intake Center: MRICs move around regularly. They will be in an area for a short period of time to help survivors who need registration help. Visit FEMA’s webpage to find more information about the Mobile Registration Intake Center locations and hours.
Disaster Recovery Center: To find a Disaster Recovery Center near you, use the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s DRC locator or text “DRC” and your zip code to 43362 (4FEMA) to locate a Disaster Recovery Center in your area.
