A severe winter storm hit Oklahoma between February 8th and February 20th, 2021. On February 24th, President Biden declared a major disaster, making federal funding available to individuals and business owners affected.
People in the following counties are eligible to receive federal disaster assistance:
*Muskogee county was added on 5/12/2021
Low-income survivors facing legal issues may call (800) 522-8065 between 9:00am and 12:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, local time. You may also call 2-1-1 during any other time to apply for legal services and get assistance for any other issues related to this disaster.

Online: Fill out the application at DisasterAssistance.gov
In-Person: You can also fill out the application at a FEMA Disaster Resource Center (DRC).
Mobile Registration Intake Center: MRICs move around regularly. They will be in an area for a short period of time to help survivors who need registration help. Visit FEMA’s disaster declaration webpage to find more information about the Mobile Registration Intake Center locations and hours.
Disaster Recovery Center: To find a Disaster Recovery Center near you, use the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s DRC locator or text “DRC” and your zip code to 43362 (4FEMA) to locate a Disaster Recovery Center in your area.

The Disaster Legal Services hotline is now available in response to damages by Severe Winter Storms on February 8-20, 2021, in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Bar Young Lawyers Division, the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is providing free disaster legal assistance to individuals affected by the recent winter storms.

Free Legal Answers is a virtual legal advice clinic. Qualifying users post their civil legal question to their state’s website. Users will then be emailed when their question receives a response. There is no fee for the use of the system or for the advice and information provided by the attorney. Volunteer attorneys will not answer criminal law questions.
